WHO WE ARE
The Mastermindz is the brainchild of Producer/Engineer duo of Staten Island native Joe "Mighty Joe" DeStefano (Engineer) and Miami native Khalil 'K Da Komposer" Mattis (Producer).Komposer's Jamaican roots growing up around his fathers DJ sound system, and uncle “VP Music Group” recording artist “Hopeton Lindo” sparked his love of creating music. From there he continued his passion for music playing in church, DJ’ing, and performing in his high school marching band. Komposer furthered his music education where he was rewarded the honor to march with the prestigious FAMU Marching “100”.While Mighty Joe as a respected local MC at school studying music and the technical aspects of engineering met up with platinum producer (RIP) Thomas “Mas” Wiseman in 2004 where he learned the ropes of the music business. Shortly after that, Mighty Joe linked up with DJ Nasty of the Nasty BeatMakers and has been their Engineer ever since.The two met in Orlando, Florida and so far their collaborative efforts have been behind the scenes working with a growing resume of notable artists of national and local acclaim such as Grammy Award Winners The Nasty BeatMakers, Fabolous, Rick Ross, Eddie “Krack Keys” Montilla, Betty Wright, Brisco, DJ K Razor of the Fader Ballistix Crew, Benzino and Orlando Magic’s DJ D Strong of 102 Jamz and BET’s 106 & Park.With recording experiences on “"American Star" -–Lil Wayne's Rebirth, All I do is Win - DJ Khaled and credits on DJ Khaled's "We the Best Forever" for "Legendary". Young Jeezy's "The Real is Back Mixtape and Tamia's upcoming album "Beautiful Surprise".the Mastermindz are determined to stay involved in the creative process of developing hit music, While working with the Nasty Beatmakers new artists Shad Star and Kid Famous, they even have their hands in software development, by working along side with Cool and Dre for their new mobile app “Cool & Dre GrooveMaker” for IK Multimedia. This duo stands poised for the next level of development because they don’t fantasize, they MasterMind.
